What is Moringa?

Moringa is one of the most nutrient dense natural foods in the world. It is loaded with antioxidants, fiber, protein, calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, vitamin A, B, C, D, E, K, and contains all 9 essential amino acids. Moringa is also known as a super anti-oxidant (hello skin) and has a wide range of other health benefts.
Moringa powder is made from the leaves of the Moringa tree. They are dried and milled into powder. It’s often called the Miracle tree and that’s for good reason. Study shows Moringa has plenty of health benefits, is great for you skin (proven anti-ageing) and support hair and nail growth.

Moringa for Skin, Hair & Nails
Due to Moringa extremely high nutritional values it has a lot of skin, hair and nail benefits.
Moringa contains Vitamin A and that's great for your skin because it builds collagen, this is the vital component that your skin is made of. Vitamin C in Moringa helps to fight ageing of skin. It's anti-inflammatory properties help fight against acne and breakouts. But the real wonder in Moringa is the high dose of Zeatin.
Professor Thomas Roitsch of the University of Wuerzburg calls Moringa the fountain of Youth due to it's high dose of Zeatin. This increases the usability of nutrients in our organism on average 6x.
The great thing about Zeatin is that it naturally supports the conservation of cells, this is essential to keep youthful skin and make sure you decrease cell damage. Moreover, it also improves the stress tolerance of endangered cells.
Hair & Nails
Moringa is used by lots of beauty specialists in hair and nail treatments. The amounts of Vitamin A & B contribute to hair growth and moisturizes your hair. Moringa contains a good dose of Iron and researchers are currently working on research to understand the relationship between an iron difficieny and hairloss.
The Iron, Magnesium, Vitamin C, Zinc and protein in Moringa all contribute to strong healthy nails. We have many customers experiencing differences in their nails within two weeks.
The Moringa tree is a fast growing, draught resillient tree. Therefore it's a climate smart crop. The tree is accesible to grow for a lot of farmers since it needs no extra water or fetiliser. When you break of a branch of the tree and put it back into the ground, within a month you have a meter high Moringa tree. Within 3 month you have your first harvest!
Young Moringa trees have a slim trunk but once they grow older they get big beautiful trunks. Young Moringa trees are often used as pinpoint for fences around houses in Malawian villages. Meaning these super leaves mostly just grow in the back yard!

Hand picked harvest
Our Moringa leaves are hand picked harvested everyday. Moringa is one of the most fast growing trees in the world and you can harvest one tree all year around.
We shadow dry our Moringa in our factory in Malawi. Supported by wind the leaves are dried until crispy. To decrease moister in the Moringa the leaves spend 30 minutes in a 40 degrees oven to keep all our nutritional values!
Milling and capsulating
When the leaves are dry enough they are milled into powder. Part of the milled powder will be capsulated.
You can use the Moringa tree from root to flower, but the most common Moringa products are Moringa oil, Moringa Powder, Moringa Capsules and Moringa tea. These are all product made from the seeds and the leaves.
Our current assortment contains Moringa Powder and Moringa Capsules. These easy to take products enrichess your daily routine by adding a lot of nutrients you really need.
Moringa Oleifera is often called the Miracle Tree. It contains nutrients like vitamin A, B, C, D and K, 18 amino acids including all of the nine essential ones, and Omega 3, 6 and 9. It contains more potassium than banana, more vitamin C than oranges and more calcium than milk. The UN has indicated in a report that it would be very beneficial for children living in countries with malnutrition if they could have a daily dose of Moringa. Moringa is widely grown all over the southern hemisphere. Moringa has been used in India for thousands of years
in their daily diet and is starting to be used more broadly in Africa, Australia, Europe and America.
Moringa is GMO free. Our products are not certified organic (yet) but are grown without any fertiliser or irrigation. To certify all the independent farmers is a complicated process that we are starting, but we decided to prioritise working with independent farmers over certification.
The soil and climate around Lake Malawi provide an ideal environment for all these products to grow. In addition, it is quite simple to harvest, produce powder, capsules, oil and cosmetics from various parts of the tree.
Yamba arranges with local Chiefs and local farmers to collect Moringa. More than 1,000 farmers and their families receive a part of their livelihood from Yamba Health.
